What a wonderful experience we had in Talisi. Each set of missionaries we work with turn out to be the best. We can't believe there are so many that are so good. We had some very spiritual visits there. Talisi is a beautiful little community right by the beach with blue water rolling against the beach where palm trees grow and the hillside is dotted with little huts. I had the feeling of being in the canyon with camps all along the path. The sad thing is that when the typoon came it deposited a lot of debris from across the sea and deposited it on their beautiful beach so it is very poluted with paper wrapers and plastic.
The people are so humble and sweet and they welcomed us with open arms. They all treated us as though we were something special. Even the people we didn't visit shook our hands and thanked us for coming. We felt like we were in a parade. The missionaries had told them we were coming so they were all very excited.
We had five special visits there in about four hours. We met with members to encourage them to prepare to come to the temple when it opens in Cebu next year. They are all so trusting and believing. They all want their families sealed to them. We bore our testimonies and read some sciptures and talked to them about how we feel about forever families. There was a great spirit there. In one home especially some of the people were crying and said they felt like they were in the temple already. The missionaries didn't even have to translate for us and they knew what we were saying. They all hugged us and the little children all followed us back to the van.
They loved Dad's whistling and clicking his tongue and we sang "I Hope They Call Me On a Mission"
We could hear them repeat some of the things we said as we walked past. Some young people were playing a game in the dirt that looked something like tic tac toe so I asked them if that is what it was. As we were walking away we could hear them saying tic tac toe, tic tac toe.
